Reeling from the pain of the previous night, I got up really late with a bad hangover and found myself in my own room. Oh man, that night was one of the nights where you only do in a long, long time. Well, that was that night and all I remember was buying and holding two beers in my hand while walking back to the hotel and as soon as I woke up, I found out that they were not beer bottles but water bottles. Wow, what a hangover if I thought I had beers but get water instead. Still, water was not a bad thing at all so I was happy with it. The only problem was not remembering huge portions of the night.
So instead of lying around all day with a painful headache, I wanted to see if I could speed up my recovery by walking around the city and got some salgados to eat along with some juice. While I was sitting there, I just realized that I had never gone off to the world famous Copacabana beach. I figured that I would just walk over there and cruise the beach-side up and down gazing at the great views of the water, the sand, and gawking at the beach bodies. Ah, why not? Moving around would also help get the blood flowing.
Pretty much it was an easy day to relax in front of such great views of the beach where supposedly this is where some of the Olympics events are going to be held after previously having concerts, official beach soccer matches, official beach volleyball matches, and of course, numerous parties. If you go, you can see why Brazilians would do such things. It is a perfect place to do such great things.
Today also marked the end of the Intrepid tour. After 48 days and 6 countries of traveling with Intrepid, it was finally over. The tour leader gave us our goodbyes yesterday but I saw her again and formally said my goodbye. Intrepid is not a bad company to travel with at all if you’re looking for traveling companions and you want a set schedule but with some flexibility on the way as well. I, myself, didn’t know which way to go in South America despite my knowledge of Spanish so I figure that I would go with the tour company just to see what it was like since I’ve been on other tour companies but they generally had more strict schedules of having down to the hour plans (since some people like that). I just was curious and decided to take the plunge and I have to say that I was more than pleased by the hard work and efforts of the tour leader trying to make everything work and make it fun for everyone despite crossing into and adjusting to different countries. That part was probably the more challenging parts of the trip of trying to travel via coordinated transportation whether by car, van, bus, or boat. I definitely recommend it if you’re a beginner traveler or want to go to someplace different but have no prior knowledge of the area or the language or if you’re just curious about it.
