Mule Deer antlers mounted on the wall

Posted by on December 14, 2011

Instead of getting the whole head cut, caped, mounted, and taken to a taxidermist, I decided to go the economical route of just getting the antlers. My guide cut them off for me so that way I could get something to show for the Mule Deer hunt. Of course, they’re not really big but when will most people ever get the chance to go mule deer hunting in Colorado or anywhere for that matter. It takes time, money, energy, and determination to do a hunt and if that’s in the cards for most people then they won’t go at all.

I think this is what you'd call a European mount by using something else to prop up the antlers. Call it economical but I'd call it kind of cool with the metal head.
