I was trying to sleep yesterday and then all of a sudden, I get wakened up by a quarreling couple. American, no doubt by understanding the English words being thrown around like knives at each other. I could clearly hear them, determining that this couple was either in the same apartment complex or next door.
The girl was audibly upset at her boyfriend or husband or whatever he was. “Get out! Get out! I don’t care if you slept with that girl or not! You need to GET OUT!”
The guy tried to plead his case but in his drunken stupor of trying to regain whatever credibility, he was not successful in his attempt to win back the love of his life despite probably having a beer in his hand. It probably didn’t help that she didn’t give him “any” despite paying for the trip but hey, it takes all kinds! Especially with this hippie backpacking couple.
“Where am I supposed to go?”
“I don’t care! You need to get out!”
Overall, I was amused for awhile listening to the girl screaming at her man which brings me to this point: it can be detrimental to bring someone on a trip because it can bring the worst in him/her. I remember seeing this one couple during a trip in South America that almost broke up for various reasons (both HIS and HER fault by the way). I was thinking that it was going to take an act of Congress… er… um… an act of Parliament since they were British to stay together after the trip.
Then again, a trip can bring out better attributes/times from a dating perspective but let me warn others from what I’ve seen from my experience traveling the world. Traveler beware!
